My Fuel Tax and My Fleet Manager

Greetings! And thank you all for using our software, or at least the
interest you have shown by downloading My Fuel Tax or My Fleet Manager. These
newsletters are intended to keep you up to date with whatever recent changes we
have made to our programs in an ongoing quest for product improvement.
My Fuel Tax Version 4.0
The
most recent Build of version 4.01 is Build 0048. Much of our work lately has
involved the Kentucky Weight/Distance Tax form. It was brought to our attention
that the State of Kentucky had made some changes to their form and we have
updated that form in our program to reflect these changes. In the process we
discovered that Kentucky sometimes changes their late filing interest rate
without announcement. If any of you have to file late Kentucky WD taxes, we
highly recommend that you check the form that Kentucky mails to you for
the current interest rate. We are looking for a way for the program to
automatically detect this interest rate change, but in the meantime we have
included an input box that pops up in the program when you are filing late.
There you can manually enter the prevailing rate.
We did
make a minor change to the Trip Entry section of My Fuel Tax. The change
involves clicking the "Create New File" button when a file already exists. We
received feedback that customers could inadvertently overwrite the existing
file, thus deleting their data for that truck. We have now added an extra
confirmation check. If you now click to overwrite an existing data file, you
will be asked to confirm that you do indeed want to delete the existing data.
Hopefully that will help save some data and the time it takes to re-enter
everything.
Just a
quick reminder for you to feel free to download the latest version of the
program whenever you are prompted on the Welcome screen of the program. We are
not only adding new functionality with these updates, we are also correcting
some errors and oversights as well. Downloading updates can prevent you from
having difficulties in the future.
The
pricing for My Fuel Tax version 4.0 as a subscription is as follows:
1 truck = $50/year, 2-3
trucks = $100/year, 4-6 trucks = $150/year, 7-10 trucks = $200/year, 11-25
trucks = $300/year, unlimited = $400/year.

The
total number of
IFTA filing forms is now 47 in all. The full list of state and provincial forms
available with the Fuel Tax Program is : AB, AL, AR, AZ, CA, CT, DE, FL, GA,
IA, ID, IL, IN, KS, KY, MA, MD, ME, MI, MO, MS, MT, NC, ND, NE, NH, NJ, NM, NV,
NY, OH, OK, ON, OR, PA, PQ, SC, SD, TN, TX, UT, VA, VT, WA, WI, WV and WY.
All forms are $25/year each. We are always working to add more states(or
provinces) to the list, so if you have a particular interest in having the form
for your state or province just let us know. We will be happy to create an IFTA
filing form for your jurisdiction for the same $25/year fee.
We
definitely invite and encourage any of you to feel free to notify us of any
announced or any noticed changes to your state's IFTA filing form. Sometimes
the easiest way is to compare the Revision date on the bottom of the forms that
the state sends you to the Revision date on the bottom of the forms that you
print using Spinnaker Fuel Tax. Please be aware that we are usually not
notified of these changes and we really want to keep our products current for
you.
My
Fleet Manager Version 2.01
My Fleet Manager version
2.01 integrates with My Fuel Tax. So if you have My Fleet Manager and Mappoint, you
can enter trips and expenses (including fuel) into My Fleet Manager, and My Fuel
Tax version 4 will enter your IFTA miles and fuel for you.
The most recent build
for My Fleet Manager is Build 0034. The last changes we made to the program
were in November and involved the Tab order in the Trip Detail window to follow
a more logical order. It had been brought to our attention that the Tab order
in this window was somewhat illogical and made for frustrating entry.
Also, in the Rating Info
group we made a change to allow for a negative surcharge as well as a positive
one. Surcharges can be entered as:
1.
A
number between 0 and 1 to indicate percent (.05) or
2. A
whole number followed by the % sign to also indicate percent (5%) or
3. A
whole number by itself to indicate a flat dollar value.
Any of
these can now be positive or negative values.
Finally,
in Trip Detail we made a little feature that automatically fills in the Origin
and Destination fields when you select a customer for your trips. They are both
filled in with that customer's address on the assumption that you may likely be
picking up or delivering to that customer's location.
As always we welcome
requests if you have changes that could improve the program for everyone.
Pricing for My Fleet
Manager version 2.01 is as follows:
1 truck = $50/year, 2-5
trucks = $100/year, 6-15 trucks = $200/year, 16-25 trucks = $300/year, 26-50
trucks = $400/year, unlimited = $500/year.
